The professional Certificate in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Pharmacotherapy requires at least 13 s.h. of credit.
The certificate provides an intensive, structured learning experience for students with an interest in careers in emergency medicine, toxicology, or critical care. Students who complete the certificate will possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to serve patients with a wide spectrum of disease states that present to the emergency department and intensive care unit. The program meets the educational needs of pharmacy students who are looking to advance their understanding of emergency medicine and critical care pharmacotherapy, and it provides the advanced knowledge necessary for postgraduate training in emergency medicine, toxicology, and critical care.
The Certificate in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Pharmacotherapy requires the following coursework. When students enroll in PHAR:9450 Elective: Patient Care Rotation, they may focus on emergency medicine, critical care (cardiovascular, medical, surgical, or burn), or toxicology (poison center or toxicology consult service).

Students may apply to the certificate program by Feb. 20 of the second professional year (P2) for an acceptance notification prior to registering for fall of the third professional year (P3).
Applicants must be in good academic standing as defined in the student handbook and have a College of Pharmacy cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 to apply.
