The undergraduate minor in Latin American studies requires a minimum of 15 s.h. in Latin American studies (prefix LAS) approved courses including at least 12 s.h. of credit earned at the University of Iowa. Students must maintain a grade-point average of at least 2.00 in all courses for the minor and in all UI courses for the minor. Coursework in the minor may not be taken pass/nonpass.

Because the minor is interdisciplinary, it may include a maximum of 6 s.h. of credit from any single department or program. Students earning the minor in Latin American studies may not earn the Certificate in Latin American Studies.
Students are strongly encouraged to take either or both of these courses for the minor.
