The purpose of the Medical Education Program is to develop a community of academic medical faculty with formal training in education who will create and sustain a culture of educational excellence within the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, the University of Iowa, and in the medical education community. The program consists of the Master in Medical Education (M.M.E.) degree and the Certificate in Medical Education.

The program is coordinated through the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education (OCRME). Courses are taught by OCRME faculty, who also advise students in the program.
