English, Minor
The undergraduate minor in English requires a minimum of 15 s.h. in English courses, including 12 s.h. in courses taken at the University of Iowa. Students must maintain a grade-point average of at least 2.00 in all courses for the minor and in all UI courses for the minor. Coursework in the minor may not be taken pass/nonpass. Students may count a maximum of 3 s.h. of approved transfer credit toward the minor. CLAS minors may only be earned concurrent with or subsequent to earning a University of Iowa bachelor's degree. They cannot be granted as standalone credentials or as the sole program of study completed at the University of Iowa.
The minor in English requires the following coursework.
At least 6 s.h. in English (prefix ENGL) literature courses numbered 2100–2699 and 3000–3599.
The remaining 9 s.h. may be selected from additional English courses (prefix ENGL) and writing courses (prefixes CNW and CW), with a maximum of 6 s.h. earned in courses with the prefix CW. Only courses numbered above 2000 count toward the English minor.
