The certificate program in geriatric and special needs dentistry prepares dentists to be leaders and teachers in this critical area of practice. The multidisciplinary program emphasizes collaboration with medicine and psychiatry, integrating clinical and didactic experiences across a variety of care settings, including acute, palliative, rehabilitative, and long-term care. Its goal is to provide dental professionals with the knowledge and skills they need to provide patient-centered, sound, and realistic treatment plans for older adults and individuals with special health care needs.

The Certificate in Geriatric and Special Needs Dentistry is administered by the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry.
